Mounjaro and MEN2
Updated over a week ago

As with any prescription medication, it's important to be aware of the impact it can have on other medical conditions you may be experiencing.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the RET gene. This condition leads to the development of tumors in endocrine glands, including the thyroid, adrenal glands, and parathyroid glands. MEN2 is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning a child has a 50% chance of inheriting the disorder if one parent carries the mutated gene.

The risks associated with MEN2 are serious and include the potential for developing medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytomas (tumors of the adrenal glands), and hyperparathyroidism. These conditions can cause various symptoms, such as high blood pressure, rapid heart rate, headaches, and elevated calcium levels. Early detection and management are crucial to reduce complications and improve outcomes.
