What has changed with the Mounjaro pen?
Lily has modified the pen to reduce the amount of leftover liquid that remains after the fourth and final dose. Helping to show more accurately when the pen is empty allowing for safe disposal.
Does the new pen look different?
The pen looks very similar and is used in exactly the same way.
You may notice:
• Less or no liquid remaining after your fourth dose
• See images below for structural pen changes
Does this change how I use my pen?
No, there is no change to how you use your pen.
• Use one injection per week
• Each pen provides four doses only
Why is there less liquid left in the pen now?
Previously, some pens appeared to have a small amount of liquid remaining after the
fourth dose. This was not intended for use. The updated pen removes this extra liquid to:
• Improve clarity
• Ensure accurate dosing
• Reduce confusion
Can I still take a fifth dose if there is liquid left?
No. Mounjaro pens are designed to provide four doses only. Any remaining liquid should not be used, as it may not be a full or accurate dose.
Is the medication itself changing?
No. The medication, strength, and effectiveness remain exactly the same. Only the pen design has been updated.
Will my treatment or results change?
No. Your treatment plan and expected results will stay the same as long as you continue to use your pen as prescribed.
Why have I received a pen that looks slightly different from my last
one?
The modified KwikPen works in the same way as the initial device, but there are a few visual and structural updates.
1. Plunger Position: The plunger sits further down in the cartridge when the pen is unused.
2. Extended Plunger: A new internal component has been added behind the plunger, extending its length. This is shown in the Mounjaro KwikPen Guide to Parts section in the Instructions For Use (IFU).
3. Remaining Medicine: After the fourth dose, the plunger will be near the end of the pen, clearly indicating the pen is ready to be discarded
